(AP) - Democrat Creigh Deeds says Virginia's massive computer agency would be the first to face a performance review if he's elected governor.
In an hourlong Associated Press interview Thursday, Deeds said
the Virginia Information Technologies Agency's chief needs to answer to the governor, just as the state agencies it serves do.
The state's chief information officer, who oversees VITA, answers to an independent board.
State agencies have complained for years of high costs, long
delays and poor service from the agency created to consolidate
state government technology services.
Deeds also told the AP that he, too, would take a pay cut if elected.
His Republican opponent this fall, Bob McDonnell, told the AP
Wednesday he would cut his salary.
