Search teams are looking for a missing Albemarle County teen.
Seventeen-year-old Eric Murphy went missing Tuesday morning. His family is desperately trying to find him.
“It’s important that we use every effort that we can. We have a blood hound out there. We have asked for a state helicopter to come to the scene,” said Sheriff Ed Robb.
A search and rescue team has been searching for Murphy since 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. They will call off their search at sundown and resume the hunt Thursday morning.
Murphy was last seen at the Lakeside Apartment Complex where he lives. He left without his wallet or ID and didn't take a car. That is why searchers are combing a wooded are between Avon Street and Route 64.
“Were still hopeful we'll be able to find this young man Eric Murphy alive,” said Robb.
Rescue workers believe Eric could have survived through Tuesday night’s bitter weather. They do not know what the Murray High School student was last wearing, but ask if you see him to call 911.
