Britain's Prince Harry Headed For Iraq

February 22, 2007

Britain's Prince Harry will be heading for Iraq this spring where he will command an armored unit.

Prince Harry's military training included many war games, but Harry wasn't playing around, and even rumored to quit the army if he were not allowed to serve in a war zone.

"The last thing I wanna do is have my soldiers sent away to Iraq and for
me to be held back home" said Harry.

Now, the boy who always dreamed of becoming a soldier is marching off to war, joining remaining British forces in Iraq come this spring.

Obviously, details of his duty are being kept secret for security
reasons, but army officials have made clear he won't be stuck and
tucked safely behind a desk.

"His role will almost certainly be patrolling the border with Iran, which
is anti-smuggling, stopping them bringing through weaponry from Iran" said Dickie Arbiter, Royal Commentator.

His wild child reputation has earned him many nicknames: Dirty Harry,
the Royal Renegade, but military service is something Harry has always taken seriously. His brother William may be the future king, but
Harry's duty to crown and country will be served in uniform.

The 22 year old is said to be thrilled about the mission, in which
he'll command an armored reconnaissance unit.

But some defense experts warn he'll be a walking bulls-eye for

By becoming a target he also drags in those people around him into
greater danger" said Bob Stewart, former U.N. commander.

But that is a risk his regiment is willing to take. As one officer put
it, we're not going with him, he's coming with us.

A royal maybe, but on the battlefield, just another brother in arms.
