March 2, 2007

20 deaths are being blamed on a massive storm system that spawned several tornadoes terrorizing the Midwest. It was a nightmare for students at Enterprise High School in Alabama

"I started thinkin I am really going to die" said 11th grader Dylan Lewis.

As a tornado ripped apart there school, they had only seconds to run for cover.

"I had at least 400 pounds of rock and ceiling on me" said Lewis.

Officials in the school had been tracking the storm as it swept through Southern Missouri where it killed a seven year old girl. Students were just about to leave when the sirens went off.

"Everything happened at once. The wall fell on me, I had part of an air conditioner on me" said Kim Lewis, Dylan's mother.

At least eight students did not make it out.

"It's very difficult, it's hard to take, it's very hard" said Kim.

They were taking cover in a wing that took a direct hit. This mother has three sons in the school, but for a while could not find one in all the chaos.

"It took me a while to find my third son, we knew you just think the worse. It has to be your child if, we kept thinking they were going to" said Kim.

As the search continues for anyone who might still be trapped beneath the debris in Enterprise,

"I have lived here my whole life and this is the worst thing that has
ever happened to Enterprise" said Kim.

Officials in Georgia, Missouri and Kansas are also trying to assess death tolls and damage from the monster weather system that has left
havoc in its wake.
