Police say a 16 year old boy was shot at the Blue Ridge Commons on Prospect Street in Charlottesville last night.

Police said they arrived at the scene to find one person lying on the street. They said he was shot once. Witnesses said the man may have been shot in the head. He was transported to UVa hospital.

Eight shell casings were recovered at the scene. Police believe they were fired from a semi automatic rifle.

Police have not released the name of the victim, but he is a student at Charlottesville High School. Investigators say there may have been a second victim. They said another man drove himself to the hospital. He was not shot, but suffered injuries in a fight.

Police said they are looking for a black pick up truck they believe the suspects were driving at the time of the shooting.

There were several people in the area and police are collecting evidence and hoping to speak with witnesses.
