Charlottesville Police are investigating a stabbing that took place in the early morning hours on Saturday.
The assault took place in the area of 200 West Water Street in downtown around 2:00 in the morning.
The victim was a 32-year-old male from Gum Springs, Virginia.
Police say the victim had been at a bar on the downtown mall, when at some point in the night there was an altercation with another group.
The victim left the downtown mall towards Water Street when he was attacked by four people, and stabbed in his abdomen.
The incident is being investigated and police are searching for suspects.
