Fans all around Charlottesville celebrated a big win by the Cavaliers. From the Corner to Midtown, Cavalier fans were out in full force today cheering on their team.
"Tons of people are out at the bars watching the game. A lot of people are watching at home. There is a new energy here on campus. It is definitely big time being in the dance," said Zander Strange.
"I've been a loyal fan all along. It has been a long since we have had this kind of excitement," said Tim Carson.
This kind of excitement brought tons of students out to O'Neill's Pub on the Corner. All eyes were glued to the television sets as the Hoos got up big early and never looked back. And while some relished in the win, others wished they were in Columbus.
"People in the architecture school have class on Friday night. It sounds a little lame but we had to stick around so we figured O'Neill's was the best place to be," said Brielle Gallinelli.
"Usually UVa does not do very well but this year is exciting. We are doing very well, been to a few games, saw Duke lose," said Jenifer Warner.
And some fans say success breeds confidence. Now that the Hoos rolled through their possible upset game, fans have their eyes on the prize.
"Hopefully we can make at least make it to the Sweet 16 and play Ohio State. I would love to play Greg Oden," said Will Campbell.
"I'm definitely seeing us go to the Final Four. I see us past Ohio State," Strange said.
The big question of the day, was any work getting done in our area? Judging by the crowds at several bars and restaurants at the noon time hour, I would imagine today was a wash and not just because of the weather.
