New Jersey Mega Millions Winner Comes Forward

March 19, 2007

A couple from New Jersey came forward today to claim half of the record $390 million jackpot after the drawing earlier this month.

The couple, who says they're retired effective immediately, chose to take the lump sum and will receive $116.5 million before the 25 percent state withholding tax.

Elaine and Harold Messner are from Cape May County in the southern tip of New Jersey according to the New Jersey Lottery. The other winner, a truck driver from Georgia, had the other winning ticket and claimed it within hours of the drawing.
