The band Metallica is adding $50,000 to the reward fund for Morgan Harrington, a Virginia Tech student who vanished while attending a Metallica concert in Charlottesville.
That brings the total reward to $150,000. CBS News reports band members phone Harrington's father last night to tell him about their offer.
News of the enlarged reward comes the same day a motel in Charlottesville was shut down this morning after reports of a sighting of Harrington. After several hours of investigating, police tell the Newsplex there was no sign of Harrington at the Comfort Inn on Pantops.
Harrington is the Virginia Tech student who disappeared last Saturday while attending a Metallica concert at John Paul Jones Arena at the University of Virginia.
Earlier in the day, the access road to the motel on a hilltop was blocked off by police with UVa, state, and Albemarle County authorities all on scene.
Police sources said they were concerned with a parking lot in front of the motel, right off 250, but not the building itself.
The investigation was centered on a blue pickup truck sitting in the parking lot. Police gave the scent from the truck's door handle to a bloodhound and had it sniff a wooded area adjacent to the motel.

You know what's kind of ironic? Metallica is a heavy metal band that sings about death and destruction, but they donate money to find a missing girl. I'm not knocking on them; I actually think that it's a noble thing to do. Yay Metallica!! I hope that they find Morgan, and that the low-life scum that took her gets whats coming to him/her.
If all the information on the Facebook and family site is correct someone was seen to fall and injure themselves then someone was seen in the bathroom crying. It was reported she looked as it she had been hit. Another observer saw her drop her purse several times in the parking lot. This is beginning to add up if you compare this disappearance to other students who vanished. My interest is a little known problem discovered to cause sudden unexplained mental breaks in otherwise normal people. The cubicle was designed to prevent it in offices by 1968. Virginia Tech was warned after the Cho shooting. Since then there has been a beheading and now this disappearance. What will it take to get Tech to investigate Subliminal Distraction? SD is explained in first semester psychology but it is unbelievable if you do not remember the bizarre details of the physiology of sight, subliminal sight, and peripheral vision reflexes. http://VisionAndPsychosis.Net
I don't really care for that type of Music but I think what they are doing to add more to the reward IS PRETTY AWESOME.... It takes someone that cares about their fans to step up and help. So God Bless Them, I'm keeping the faith and all her family in my thoughts and prayers..
