USPS Releasing "Forever" Stamp

March 26, 2007

The United States Postal Service is unveiling their new "forever" stamp. An image of the Liberty Bell will be used for the stamp.

It will go on sale in April for 41 cents. The rate for first-class postage goes up to 41 cents in May. The stamp will not display a price. The word "forever" will be used instead.

The purpose of the stamp is to eliminate the need for one- and two-cent stamps when postage goes up. People can avoid dealing with inflation by stocking up on "forever" stamps for long-term use.
