Seven local non-profits are receiving thousands of dollars in grant money, thanks to the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation (CACF).

CACF's grants go toward organizations planning projects to help address important needs in the community.

Charlottesville's Tonsler Park is getting $50,000 to replace its basketball court lighting system.

Schools in the City of Charlottesville are receiving $32,000 to maintain their WALK tutoring program.

Virginia Supportive Housing (VSH) is getting $30,000 to support collaboration between VSH, PACEM and The Haven to provide coordinated homeless services in Charlottesville and Albemarle.

Over $15,000 will go to Friends of the Jefferson Madison Regional Library to support the new Crozet Library in furnishing its interior with books and furniture.

The African American Teaching Fellows of Charlottesville-Albemarle is getting $50,000 to support the Teacher-Leader Institute, a year-round support effort that will prepare African American teachers for service in local schools.

Community Investment Collaborative will also receive $50,000 to support an entrepreneurship training workshop, up to $35,000 in microloans, mentoring, and community network events for under-resourced individuals in the Charlottesville area.

Louisa County Resource Council is getting $25,000 to support the construction of a climate-controlled warehouse addition to meet the increased need for perishable-food-storage in Louisa County.
