Lisa Graziano, a local lawyer, is the fifth person to enter the race for Albemarle County Circuit Court clerk.
Graziano, a mother of three, is a longtime resident of Albemarle County and a graduate of UVa and Washington and Lee. She says her main goal as clerk would be to balance the Freedom of Information Act with the right to privacy.
Graziano says that she is running as an independent because the job is not about forming policies.
"I'm running as an independent because the job of the clerk is not a political office. The job is to interpret the law, not make the law," said Graziano.
Graziano is currently an attorney for Republic Title Services in Charlottesville. The election is on November 6th.
