Across the nation and right here in our area, postal service carriers tried to stamp out hunger.

The postal service asked people to leave non-perishable food in their mailbox, and on Saturday, letter carriers picked up that food. It will be taken to the area food bank.

Last year, local carriers picked up more than 70,000 pounds of donated food.

This is the 15th year for the food drive.
