May 21, 2007

The Meals on Wheels organization has been making sure everyone gets an affordable meal.

More than 200 volunteers were treated to lunch at the Omni Hotel on Monday. They were also given certificates recognizing their service.

Several people have been involved in all 30 years of the program. The amount of food that the organization gives is staggering.

"Since our inception in 1977, we've delivered over 750,000 meals," said Mandy Hoy, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels.

The organization delivers five days a week, 52 weeks a year. Last year, volunteers brought more than 45,000 meals to people.
