Appomattox officials are studying a plan to preserve a Civil War battlefield near Lynchburg. The site is currently owned by a trucking company.
Officials plan to preserve the land where the Battle of Appomattox Station took place. The land remains largely undeveloped. A report on the land is expected within several weeks.
The National Park Service and local officials will look at the report and then determine a proposal of preservation most likely by the end of the summer.
