"Law and Order" Actor With Likely Bid For President

May 30, 2007

Former Tennessee senator and "Law and Order" actor Fred Thompson will likely make a run for the Republican nomination for President.

He will be in Richmond on Saturday to speak to Virginia Republicans. Thompson has all but declared his candidacy creating an official organization next week to launch a fundraising effort while getting support for his nomination.

He will also visit early primary states in late June and could officially
enter the race as early as the first week in July, according to officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Thompson is known nationally for his role on "Law and Order" as the district attorney.
