Circuit City Cutting Back Retail Positions

May 31, 2007

As part of their restructuring plan, Circuit City will cut retail management positions across the country. About 200 jobs will be cut from their corporate offices.

Around 3,000 people work in the company's corporate office. They did not specify which positions would be cut. Circuit City is the nation's number two consumer electronics retailer behind Best Buy.

Circuit City says they will eliminate an average of one manager for each of their 654 stores in the U.S. CEO Philip Schoonover says the move is the second part of a three phase effort to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
