A new survey from GMAC insurance puts Virginia at the bottom of the list when it comes to safe drivers.
Drivers in the state scored 41st on a 20 question test that asked motorists about basic driving rules. Central Virginia has a higher percentage of drivers per accident.
One local says that despite the numbers Charlottesville is still a great place to live.
"When Charlottesville was voted one of the greatest places to live, we got more traffic, more people, more accidents. Virginia is a great place to live, that's why you have more accidents" said Thomas Sprangler of Charlottesville.
New York and New Jersey drivers did score lower than Virginians.
