Glitz, glamour and the red carpet is a distant dream for most in Charlottesville, but for Ren Angle, heading down the red carpet to the Ocean's Thirteen movie premiere was a reality.

"We got to walk down the red carpet. It was surreal," shared Angle. "They said that this particular premiere was the biggest they'd seen."

So he must have some good connections in Hollywood, right?

Wrong.

He just had some pretty good luck in Charlottesville.

"We went to the charity ball for the Oscar ceremony for the Virginia Film Festival and the tickets came up for live auction and we won the tickets there," Angle says.

The Virginia Film Festival holds the fundraiser every year the night before the Oscars, auctioning off some pretty amazing prizes.

"In Charlottesville, we're lucky to have some really well-connected supporters of the festival," explained Janet Matthews, the festival's director of development.

The movie's director, Stephen Soderbergh, just happens to have a former wife in Charlottesville, who is a big supporter of the festival.

The prize also included airfare, hotel stay, car service and tickets to the infamous after-party.

"It was catered by Wolfgang Puck. We only know that because we saw him there. It was sponsored by Grey Goose," recalled Angle. "There were acrobats, fireworks and a lot of movie stars."

Angle rubbed elbows with the stars of Ocean’s Thirteen and gave us the scoop of what they are really like. "Matt Damon was really nice. We talked to him on two occasions,” he said. “Andy Garcia, same thing, really nice. George Clooney wasn't what I expected. He had a lot of make-up on."

It was a once in a lifetime experience and he's got video to prove it, just in case someone has a hard time believing some guy from Charlottesville got to walk the red carpet in Hollywood.
