Tuesday's Republican Primary pins Incumbent Senator Emmett Hanger against his Challenger Scott Sayre. The winner will represent the Republicans in the 24th District State Senate Seat Race.
Polls are open from 6AM until 7PM.
Isaac Wood, a political analyst at the UVa Center for Politics says it would be surprising if voter turnout is higher than 10%.
The low turnout could be good news for Sayre. Wood says Sayre probably would not win if the entire electorate was voting.
Wood says Hanger has an advantage as the incumbent. Wood adds if Hanger wins Tuesday he will more than likely keep the Senate seat. If Sayre wins Tuesday, Wood predicts Democrats may spend more money in November to oppose him in the election.
The 24th District covers several counties including Greene and part of Albemarle.
