State Unemployment Rate Down

The Virginia Employment Commission says that the jobless rate for the state has fallen from April. The commission says that the jobless rate fell 0.1%.

The state's unemployment remains steady at 2.8%. The VEC says that employment normally increases from April to May as new college graduates and summer workers join the labor pool.

Virginia was considerably below the national jobless rate of 4.3%. Martinsville had the highest unemployment rate at 7.8%.
