Virginia Receives $500,000 Grant

July 5, 2007

The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices has given Virginia a $500,000 grant to improve science, technology, engineering and math education.

Five other states also received grants from the organization. State officials and the organization say Virginia stood out because of its proposal to develop career and technology centers at the high school and community college level.

The State Department of Education will administer the grant. The six states were chosen from 24 applicants.
