UK Suspects' Possible Plans For The U.S.

July 6, 2007

It has emerged that the UK bomb plotters may have had plans for the U.S. too.

The FBI confirms at least two suspects including ringleader Mohammed Asha contacted a Philadelphia based agency that certifies overseas doctors.

In a terror probe that continues to stretch to the other side of the world,
Australian police launched fresh raids on hospitals in the Australian outback, hauling in four men for questioning.

"They've been interviewed and computer communications equipment has been seized for further examination" said Alan Carpenter of the Western Australia Premier.

All four have been released, but all are Indian doctors, like suspect Mohamed Haneef, who remains in police custody.

"It is quite a complex investigation and the links to the UK are becoming more concrete" said Mick Keelty, an Australian Federal Police Commissioner.

In the UK, moderate Muslim groups have launched their own campaign, taking out full page ads declaring terrorism: 'not in our name' and condemning the attempted attacks.

As Britain heads toward a busy weekend coinciding with the two year
anniversary of the July 7th bombings that killed 52 people, the prime
minister called for patience.

"I think people will have to accept that the security has got to be more intense and we've got to avoid the possibility, and it's very very difficult, that people can use these crowded places for explosions" said British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

But tighter security and the threat of attack won't keep many away as in parts of America, terror is just another part of life here in the UK.
