The House of Representatives has voted to withdraw U-S troops from Iraq by spring, despite a veto threat from President Bush.
The vote to have U-S troops out of Iraq by April was mostly along party lines, and came after an administration report that the Iraqi government has made limited progress in achieving a variety of reforms.
Democrat James Moran of Virginia says it's time to get troops out of Iraq because the current policy is ... quote ... "leading us down a dead-end street."
The Senate votes next week on a similar bill.
Republican Senator John Warner of Virginia sharply criticized the Iraqi government yesterday after the progress report was released.
Warner wrote the provision requiring the progress report.
He said yesterday that he's disappointed by the results and said the Iraqi government ... quote ... "simply not providing leadership worthy of the considerable sacrifice of our forces, and this has to change immediately."
