Seven medical departments at the University of Virginia Health System are being nationally recognized.

They are listed in the 18th annual survey of America's Best Hospitals from US News and World Report.

Health system officials say these rankings validate what they have been working so hard for.

"Be the best in health care, teaching and research. It's really a team approach. It's the physicians, it's the hospital together, working to provide the best care we can and this was really a nice certificate to establish that," said Dr. Jonathon Truwit, Chief of UVa's Pulmonary Medicine Department.

In the past year, UVa Health System has also attained nursing magnet status.
