Albemarle County Police are investigating a dispute between about 20 men at Fashion Square Mall. It happened just before 8:00 Saturday night.
When police arrived at entrance three of the mall Saturday night, between Belk and JCPenney, they say they found about 50 people, around 20 of whom were actually fighting, while about 30 others watched and enticed.
Police are still investigating the cause of the fight. They say almost everyone scattered when they pulled up, but two people remained out of hand. Both were arrested for disorderly conduct.
The two arrested were a 17-year-old juvenile and 19-year-old Adonis Gilmore, both of whom are from Charlottesville. The two men were later released by police.
Mall security was on hand and called Albemarle County Police for help when they realized the large number of people involved.
"Mall security has been working well with us, has been trying to provide extra patrols of the mall. They have also been taking special note of juvenile groups that wander the mall and keeping tabs so that events like this don't occur," said Corporal Michael Hintz of the Albemarle County Police.
Police do not believe this to be related to any gang activity.
