Police Searching for Shooter in Albemarle County

Around 2 a.m. Monday morning emergency workers repsonded to a report of shots fired near the 1100 block of Wharton Drive.

Crews arrived at the Southwood Mobile Home Community on Wharton Drive.

Police say neighbors heard shots fired in the area, and found a Charlottesville man named Carlos Romero. He'd been shot in the abdomen.

Romero was taken into surgery at the UVa medical center, and is in stable condition.

The shooter is still on the loose. Anyone with information is asked to call the Albemarle County Police Department at 434-296-5807 or Crimestoppers at 434-977-4000.
