The University of Virginia held its second annual Venture Summit on Thursday.
The conference brings together venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and capitalists from across the country. They discuss what they can do to advance innovation in the country.
Officials said it's also a big help for the Charlottesville area.
"This creates jobs, it creates economic growth for our region," said Tom Skalak, UVa.'s vice president of research.
"This conference gathers together the talent to consider how to make that happen better and better," said Bob Bruner, dean of the Darden School of Business.
The summit continues through Friday with different panel discussions, running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
