Albemarle County teachers have a new web based program to help them better educate students by educating them about their students.

It's called SchoolNet and it's designed to give teachers easy access to a variety of educational materials, all in an effort to better educate individual students. The goal of SchoolNet is to provide teachers with enough information to determine what's working or not working for a particular student.

At the site teachers can see where a student has come from as well as where he or she struggles on tests. All in hopes of being able to figure out the best way to reach each individual student.

"We believe that this is going to help teachers raise the level, raise the level of achievement pretty significantly in our division because when students come in to a classroom teachers will know a lot of information about those students from the very beginning" said Dr. Bruce Benson of Albemarle County Schools.

Albemarle County is just the second school system in the state to use the SchoolNet website. Virginia Beach started using SchoolNet earlier this year.

SchoolNet is the leading provider of web based tools for school systems in the country.
