It's move in day on grounds. The UVA Pep Band cheered on the thousands of students and families flooding the grounds of the University of Virginia Saturday.

Students and parents were excited to be in Charlottesville, but pretty much everyone agreed, the heat made moving in rough.

There was however, some relief for families sweating in the sun.

"They have free waters out there they are providing for everyone so that's been very appreciated," said student Katie Carleton.

There were also some other cool treats.

"Snowcones, yeah they were free, so I got one," said greeter Xotchiltl Vasquez.

Fans were a popular way to keep cool on this hot day and greeter helped new students with the move.

"They've got water, people to help carry your bags, and people to help if you have questions, so it hasn't been that bad," said Claudia Svirsky.

But it's not just the summer heat that has these anxious first year students sweating.

"The only thing I'm scared about is calculus," said one new student.

UVA Police say move-in day is the second busiest traffic day the university has. The busiest is graduation day.
