Locals Participate In 9/11 Remembrances

September 11, 2007

Students, faculty, and staff at the University of Virginia as well as local firefighters participated in different ceremonies Tuesday morning.

Students, faculty, and staff from UVa took part in a moment of silence Tuesday morning. Charlottesville Police Chaplain and others gathered at the amphitheater to take part in an interfaith ceremony including the singing of the "National Anthem" and "God Bless America."

Local firefighters remembered their fellow men by also taking a moment of silence Tuesday morning. Fire Chief Charles Werner spoke briefly about the lives lost six years ago. That ceremony concluded with a bell ringing.
