Virginia Guardsman Arrested for Desertion

A member of the Virginia National Guard from Waynesboro has been arrested for failing to report for duty.

Sgt. First Class Denise Jones was arrested for desertion by the Waynesboro Police Department on August 30th.

Jones was ordered to active federal service on January 6th. Jones was supposed to go to Ft. Benning, Georgia for training and on to Sarajevo. Officials said Jones did not report for duty.

Jones has been taken into custody by the Army and is being held at the Fort Knox Deserter Control Point.
