The man convicted of sexually assaulting a fellow UVa student more than 20 years ago is now a free man.
William Beebe was released from the Charlottesville Albemarle Regional Jail Thursday morning. He said nothing as he walked to his car. Beebe served less than six months of his 18 month sentence.
He pleaded guilty in November to sexually assaulting Liz Seccuro at a fraternity party back in 1984. It was Beebe's own apology for the attack that helped to put him behind bars.
Beebe contacted his victim years after the assault as part of a 12-step alcoholic anonymous program. Seccuro says the shortened sentence "makes justice feel incomplete."
