Update

In an email to students, University of Virginia Chief of Police Michael Gibson provided a description of the suspect wanted in connection with Monday night's attempted sexual assault on a female student.

The message describes the suspect as a Hispanic male in his early thirties, approximately 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds.

The assault happened on Roosevelt Brown Boulevard, near the University of Virginia Medical Center, around 11:30 p.m. Monday night. (Click here for a map.)

Police say a man came up behind the female student and pushed her into the bushes along the sidewalk of Roosevelt Brown Blvd. After a brief struggle, the woman was able to push her assailant away. Police report the suspect then fled the scene on foot in the direction of West Main Street.

The investigation is ongoing. Police anyone anyone with information regarding the crime to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.

Dude, you crack me up (largely because you're right!). I always joke that I probably don't necessarily need to be armed: I'm pre-menopausal and know how to use it. Women (especially younger women) need to get over their aversion to inflicting pain and just LET 'EM HAVE IT!!

Ditto, Boo. It seems like C-ville is getting more dangerous by the day, especially for women. It is almost to the point where the young ladies at UVa should be trained and given tasers. Whoops, Title IV; train and give tasers to guys who want them (lots of whimpy, nerd-types at UVa).
