Candidate for Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring made a stop at C'Ville Coffee on Saturday to meet with supporters.

The Democratic candidate talked to voters in Charlottesville about the Democratic ticket, which includes gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe and lieutenant governor candidate Ralph Northam, and how important it is that everyone gets out to vote in November.

Herring also talked about the evolving scandal involving gifts from Star Scientific CEO Jonnie Williams to Gov. Bob McDonnell.

"I've already come out in support of Terry McCauliffe's gift ban that would ban those types of gifts. I don't think it's right that public officials are able to use their position for private benefit. That's wrong and we need to put a stop to it," Herring said.

He said he hopes the investigation moves forward and that he is deeply troubled by what has happened.

Herring, a graduate of the University of Virginia, said he was glad to be back in Charlottesville and was happy to see an energetic crowd.

Herring also made a stop in Nelson County on Saturday evening.
