The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors approved a women's equality proclamation Wednesday night.

A similar vote failed several weeks ago, with some Supervisors saying it was "redundant", but a re-working version has passed.

Kobby Hoffman, with women's equality group C'ville NOW says the fact that the original proclamation did not pass, despite similar proclamations passing in years pasts, has he concerned.

"I'm really wondering about he majority of the board and what this means in term of there support of half their citizens, i.e.: women." says Hoffman.

Supervisor Duane Snow, who voted against the earlier proclamation and for the current version, says it came down to a difference in tone.

"The one that passed was more of more of a positive and local nature." says Snow. "I had local people working on it, which I thought was great."

Charlottesville City Council passed a woman's equality resolution without any issues at a meeting a few weeks ago.
