Albemarle Co. Board of Supervisor Candidate Announces Council

June 24, 2013

Diantha McKeel is running for the Jack Jouett District seat on the Albemarle Co. Board of Supervisors.

This morning she held a press conference announcing the formation of the Common Ground Council, a group of nonpartisan community experts whose only allegiance is to making Albemarle Co. a better place to live, raise a family and operate a business.

McKeel believes that Albemarle Co. and the city of Charlottesville should have a better relationship. She also believes in compromise.

"We need to come together to find common ground," says McKeel. "We are polarized very often, the city and the county tend to be polarized."

"We are polarized between the environmentalist and the development community and what I'm seeking is to sort of till that common ground and see if we cant come together and figure out what our core objectives are and work together to compromise," explained McKeel.

McKeel was a member of the Albemarle Co. School Board for 16 years and hopes to use some of the skill she learned on the board to help as a supervisor.

McKeel is running as an Independent against Philip Seay, the director of the First Tee Program in Charlottesville.

The election takes place on November 5th.
