Albemarle Co. Firefighters Battle Blaze on Route 29

December 5, 2012

Albemarle County firefighters are battling a blaze on Route 29 that has heavily damaged a home.

The fire broke out shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday on Monacan Trail near the intersection with Arrowhead Valley Road. One lane of northbound Route 29 was closed as fire crews worked the blaze.

Firefighters found the home fully engulfed when they arrived. Two people were inside at the time, and both got out safely.

At least one-third of the roof has been destroyed, and there's smoke damage throughout the house.

There's no word yet on a cause of the fire.
