Albemarle Co. Police Dept. Receives New Harley

Oct. 28, 2013

Albemarle County police will soon be patrolling the area on a brand new motorcycle.

The police department got the keys to the 2014 Harley Davidson after participating in America's 9/11 Commemorative Motorcycle Ride back in August.

The annual ride stops at all three 9/11 crash sites to remember the victims.

Many Albemarle County officers serve as motorcade escorts during the ride.

They say winning the new motorcycle will help with traffic enforcement throughout the county.

"We're very excited to welcome anything that is a part of the 9/11 foundation and it's also a way for us to remember. Each time you look at that motorcycle, we'll remember where it came from and what it meant to us," said Officer Randy Jamerson, Traffic Unit, Albemarle County Police.

"It's our way of showing our appreciation for them devoting their time to come and help us and make sure that we do it safely," said Roger Flick, America's 911 Foundation.

The foundation also presented American flags to Charlottesville and Albemarle County Police.
