No decision has been made, as the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors tires to figure out where to put a new law enforcement training facility.
The board has been looking for options, since deciding against building a firing range on the Old Keene Landfill.
Albemarle Police Chief Steve Sellers says they'll lose some amenities by not having an outdoor facility, including an area for sniper training, driver training and a burn building for the fire department.
He adds that if the training site is out of the county, then it’s going to hinder their job.
"Not to mention that's a part of the day we'll have fewer officers in Albemarle County protecting citizens and being available for back up for other officers," said Sellers.
Chief Sellers will be meeting with developers to consider other sites in the coming days.
He will present that information to the Board of Supervisors.
