NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Three Navy ships are returning to Virginia following an eight-month deployment.
The Navy tells media outlets that the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge and the amphibious transport dock USS San Antonio are scheduled to arrive at Naval Station Norfolk on Thursday. Also Thursday, the amphibious dock landing ship USS Carter Hall is scheduled to return to Joint Base Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia Beach.
Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit will return to Camp LeJeune in North Carolina.
The Navy says the Kearsarge Amphibious Readiness Group conducted maritime security operations and security cooperation activities with partner nations, along with four multinational exercises.
The ships spent most of their time in the Arabian Gulf and Mediterranean Sea.
