The annual Holiday Heritage parade took over the mall Saturday morning as hundreds set up their spot to watch before it all began at 10 a.m.
Charlottesville community members sat back and enjoyed a visit from area high school bands, floats, dancers, dogs, carolers and some local celebrities.
As always, it was a big hit for kids and for residents who have made the Heritage parade part of their holiday tradition. But there were some first-timers among the crowd.
"I was just searching online for things to do for the holidays and I thought we'd really like this. All the little cars are cute, and the dogs and the candy is always a plus. We have a huge bag of candy now and we're having so much fun," said Nicole Farruggio, a Charlottesville resident.
And last but certainly not least in the procession was Santa Claus himself.
