Families and friends of all ages came together Sunday morning for the UVa Children's Hospital.
It was the annual Walk for Kids at the Park, which has been going on for nearly three decades now to benefit the children's hospital in Charlottesville that helps kids from all over.
The five-mile walked ended with food, music, prizes and fun for the kids. There were teams from local elementary schools, sports teams and families who say this is a special walk for the community.
"It's about building a healthy future for our community and our children and it's about bringing our community together because you don't know anyone in this area who has not been touched by the UVa children's hospital," said Jason Walker of UVa Children's Hospital. "This event is just for everyone to come together to celebrate you know, all the good that it does."
The walk raises about $100,000 for the hospital each year. Proceeds from the event will support construction of the Battle Building at UVA Children's Hospital.
