Archaeologists Holding Open House at Monticello

Oct. 18, 203

Archaeologists at Thomas Jefferson's home are digging up some history, and are welcoming the public to see what they've found.

Monticello will be holding its annual archaeological open house on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The focus for this year's open house is on the history of the slave quarters, with artifacts dating back to the 1600's.

"Most of our research is trying to understand what the plantation looked like at different points in time, how it changed over time and begin to understand the causes of those changes," said Director of Archaeology Fraser Neilman.

The open house goes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
