The Buckingham County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal stabbing outside the Farmer's Food grocery store in Dillwyn that left an 18-year-old woman dead.

Alexis Rose was found stabbed multiple times in the parking lot around 11:15 Tuesday night. She was taken to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery, but succumbed to her injuries Wednesday morning.

"She doesn't deserve it," her sister, Sharon Epps, said. "I mean, what he done to my sister, I wouldn't even done that to an animal. The way he done my sister and left her."

Police quickly identified Rose's boyfriend, Christopher Jerel Moseley, 20, as a suspect. He was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with first-degree murder.

"I think alexis was loved by everybody in this school. The staff in particular, I think, are very saddened by what happened," said Sue Miles, a counselor at Buckingham County High School.

Rose was a 2012 graduate of BCHS. School officials remember her as a determined and motivated young woman and a role model to her group of friends.

"She had a phenomenal relationship with her peers," BCHS assistant principal Rudolph Roethel said. "I also saw a strong, determined young woman."

"She had an energy to her that made people smile when they came around," BCHS principal Roger Coleman said.

Many people in the shopping center Wednesday said nerves were high.

"I was very shocked to see a young girl lose her life like that," said Debra Popolizio, an employee at Super Dollar, which sits next to Farmer's Foods. "I was just very shocked, especially for this small town."

The community and Rose's family are now left looking for closure.

"He took that away from her. We can't even bring that back," Epps said. "She can't even achieve that now because she's dead and gone.

The sheriff's office says Moseley will likely be held without bond.
