The Building Goodness Foundation has given this years Skip Wootten Volunteer Service Award to two people instead of one this year: Dan Fagan and Bruce Wachtel.
Fagan has been working with the BGF since 2004, helping to renovate homes in central Virginia and managing the construction of the CODEP Depot in Haiti.
Wachtel has been working with the BGF since 2010, but since then has helped renovate the Rockfish Vally Community Center and has led four trips to Haiti to work on a school, community market, and a church. He is also a member of the BGF's Leadership Committee.
"You're just doing something really good. You're putting builders where they are needed and there is a real need for building skills in a lot of the world." says Wachtel.
In a press release, BGF Executive Director Kelly Eplee says, "Dan has been a reliable local service leader for many years, and has proven to be a fine international trip leader." and "Bruce was involved in local community service long before coming to BGF, and he has certainly enriched us with his experience."
The Skip Wootten Volunteer Service Award is named for Francis "Skip" Wootten, a former Building Goodness Foundation volunteer who passed away in 2008.
Fagan says its an honor to be recognized with an award named after a man like Skip.
"To be awarded something with his name on it means a lot, because it comes from my peers."
