Bullet Proof Backpacks Help To Protect Kids

June 24, 2013

I has been months since the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut at Sandy Hook Elementary School, but parents are still finding ways to keep their children safe in the event of a tragedy. One way is with bullet proof backpacks.

Miguel Caballero, also known as the "Armani" of bullet proof clothing, teamed up with Elite Sterling Security to help create the bullet proof backpack.

Caballero designed bullet proof clothing for high profile clients from South America to the Persian Gulf.

"It can sustain multiple shots with pretty high caliber weapons," says Timothy Hogan, COO off Elite Sterling Security. "We look at it as an additional safety measure, no different than wearing seat belts in your car."

"It's just one more level of protection that can help take care of our kids" says Hogan.

The backpack has been a top seller for the security company. Since they first put it on the shelves in March, they have sold more than 300 backpacks at $250 dollars a piece.
