While some people might be preparing for a couple of inches of overnight snow at home, others are on vacation at Wintergreen and are hitting the slopes this weekend.
With an unexpected snowfall on Christmas Eve and possibly a few more on Friday night, Wintergreen employees say they are excited for the holiday weekend visitors to enjoy it. But there might be one visitor who is the most excited.
Cannon Sabol is from Houston, Texas. His mother, Misty, said he has been praying to God for snow every night. The first time he ever saw snow was on Christmas Eve and now that their family is at Wintergreen to play in it for a whole weekend, she says Cannon is the happiest kid on earth.
"After there was a zero percent chance of snow forecasted, you just couldn't imagine the delight on his face. He was like 'It's snowing! Mom, it's really snowing!'" Sabol said.
Every year between Christmas and New Years Wintergreen Resort is pretty busy but adding a fresh layer or snow gives it all a special touch.
"Snow is really a nice treat so for us to have al ittle natural snow is fantastic for this weekend. The place arleady looks beautiful, there's ice in the trees from the previous storm and tomorrow hopefully there'll be 4-6 inches of white stuff falling and then Sunday will be spectacular," said VP of Resort Operations, Jay Roberts.
As far as preparations go, the resort says they're definitely prepared for snow and a busy weekend.
"We're ready for it, we have all the plows we need to get the job done so if people can get here to Wintergreen they can certainly get in," said Roberts.
