Some people say time is money but members of the Charlottesville TimeBank are spreading the word that time is a currency in itself.

The goal of TimeBank is to bring the community together through exchanging services, not with money but with time itself.

"Part of community is though everybody may have something to offer, sometimes you say well I'm worth more than you. Here what we're saying is my talents, what I can do for you, are equal to what maybe you could do for me or somebody else," said Arther Rashap, Co-chair of the C'Ville TimeBank board.

Whether it's an hour of knitting lessons or a week of pet-sitting, the exchange of services for free creates a huge circle of giving and receiving, all through a website.

"In addition to providing services for free for each other, I think it will add to the richness of the fabric of Charlottesville. I think it's a fantastic idea and hope it only grows and grows," said Margot Coleman, a Charlottesville resident who signed up for TimeBank on Sunday night's orientation meeting.

It's not only providing a service for someone, it's time spent with and for another person right in your own community. Members say that creates a special relationship.

Sunday's orientation brought in dozens of new members who are all stepping into the world of TimeBank.

It bring's a whole new meaning to 'I need you' and 'You need me'.
