CenturyLink to Expand High-speed Internet Service to Scottsville, Schuyler

Nov. 18, 2013

CenturyLink is working with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and its Connect America Fund (CAF) to help expand broadband availability to Scottsville and Schuyler.

The company accepted approximately $1,300,000 in CAF funds last year to bring broadband to high-cost, rural areas in Virginia and is also investing significant amounts of its own capital to fund this broadband expansion.

“We’re excited to be able to bring broadband to approximately 180 local homes and businesses in the Hardware community six miles east of Scottsville and the Sharon Baptist Church area in Schuyler, where high-speed Internet service would not be economically feasible without public-private programs like the FCC’s Connect America Fund,” said Marcus Hill, CenturyLink General Manager for Virginia. “CenturyLink is focused on expanding our local broadband service because we recognize it will help bring more essential educational and economic opportunities to local residents and businesses.”

Customers can order service or check service availability in their area by calling CenturyLink at (434) 974-6928 or by visiting the CenturyLink Experience Center at 1240 Seminole Trail in Charlottesville.
